ABOUT THE BOOK :
For Miriam Fisher, a budding poet who reads the Oxford English Dictionary for fun, seventh grade is a year etched in her memory “clear as pain.” That’s the year her older sister, Deborah, once her best buddy and fellow “alien,” bloomed like a beautiful flower and joined the high school in-crowd. That’s the year high school senior Artie Rosenberg, the “hottest guy in the drama club” and, Miriam thinks, her soul mate, comes to live with Miriam’s family. And that’s the year the popular “watermelon girls” turn up the heat in their cruel harassment of Miriam—ripping her life wide open in shocking, unexpected ways. Teased and taunted in school, Miriam is pushed toward breaking, until, in a gripping climax, she finds the inner strength to prove she’s a force to be reckoned with.
This riveting first novel introduces readers to an unforgettable heroine, an outsider who dares to confront the rigid conformity of junior high, and in the process manages not only to save herself but to inspire and transform others.

AND NOW , the interview XD !!!
1.)Tell us something about yourself.
I live in Westford Massachusetts, United States, with my husband, my two boys aged 6 and 10, and a huge, white golden doodle dog named Panda. I enjoy playing Cello, singing, hiking, and traveling whenever possible.
2.) How did the idea for , Freak ‘ come ?
I was very much like Miriam when I was younger. I was an outsider, socially uncomfortable, and much more interested in fantasy and magic than I was in looking cool or dressing the way other girls dressed. Freak is really the story of who I was.
3.)Which character from , Freak ‘ has influenced you ?
I am deeply influenced by Miriam. She really is who I was when I was twelve years old. When I wrote this book, I felt as though I were writing a letter to my younger self. Telling myself to be strong.
4.) What is your favorite book ?
The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros
5.) Why ?
I love Sandra Cisneros’s writing style. The way she uses metaphors and similes, the way she looks closely at the world and write in her character’s voice have affected my own novels more than any other writer.
6.) What do you think about ROMANIA ?
I would love to go to Romania one day. I have some dear friends who grew up in Romania and then immigrated to America when they were college students. They are both physicists now. I know that there was war and unrest in Romania when they were children and they have told me stories about riots and political arguments.
7.) Vampires are very popularized in last year . What do you think about vampires?
I have to admit I am not a huge fan of vampires. They are still very popular here in the United States as well. Maybe Vampires books help people get in touch with their dark sides. We all have them, don’t we?
8.) What do you think about GLEE ?
GLEE is a wonderful television show because it shows how different each of us is. I think GLEE gives teenagers permission to be who they are and to express themselves. It also is introducing the younger generation to wonderful music that was popular in their parents’ and grandparents’ generations which greatly widens their musical vocabulary.
9.) Tell us something that the rest of your readers don`t know about the book.
FREAK is being re-released in paperback in September 2013!
10.) What do you think about my blog ? 🙂
I think what you are doing is wonderful and I am proud of you for following your dreams.
11.) Do you have a message for my blog`s followers ? 🙂
Always be yourself. Sing your own song. Don’t ever let another person define you or take away your voice. You are beautiful just as you are.
Thank you , Marcella !
