About the book :
Sunny Meadows is anything but the easy way out, and Taylor has to fight hard just to cling to her sanity as she battles her parents, her therapist, and a group of particularly nasty fellow patients, the Latina Queens. But even as Taylor struggles to hold on to her stubborn former self, she finds herself relenting as she lets in two unlikely friends–Margo, a former child star and arsonist, and AJ, a mysterious boy who doesn’t speak. AND NOW , the interview ! XD
1.) Tell us something about yourself.
I’m 33 years old. I was born and raised in Florida, where I still live. I have a husband, two children, two rabbits and a dog named Lucy.
2.) How did the idea for , Counting Backwards ‘ ?
I wanted to write about a girl who was running away– from life, from her problems and especially from herself. Then I needed a way to trap her, so that she could no longer run. That’s where Sunny Meadows came in. I also wanted to write about beautiful, but imperfect people, because that’s what we all are: beautiful and imperfect.
3.)Which character from , Counting Backwards’ has influenced you ?
AJ. He is so solid and sweet, yet tough and funny too. I like his character growth throughout the story and I think he is a great influence on Taylor.
4.) What is your favorite book ?
I’ll tell you the last three books that I’ve read and thoroughly enjoyed: If I Stay by Gayle Foreman, Pure by Julianna Baggot and A Northern Light by Jennifer Donnelly. I loved them all immensely
5.) Why ?
They were all narrated by strong, female characters and each one was very creative and unique.
6.) What do you think about ROMANIA ?
I’ve heard that it’s a beautiful country and that the people are very friendly. I’d love to visit the castles and make many Romanian friends.
7.) Vampires are very popularized in last year . What do you think about vampires?
I’ve not known one personally, but they do seem to be a little controlling. Also very handsome. I’m not sure that I could fall in love with one. He would have to be pretty gosh darn charming. And he’d have to be a vegetarian.
8.) What do you think about GLEE ? What about Game Of Thrones ?
I used to watch Glee a lot when it first came out—I love musicals! I haven’t seen Game of Thrones but there are a lot of people who like it. I’ve heard there’s a lot of sex and that is somewhat of a turn-off for me. I don’t like seeing women (or men) objectified.
9.) Tell us something that the rest of your readers don`t know about the book.
It had many different working titles. Among them were: Fast Car, Map of Myself, and Deep Down. Counting Backwards is my favorite!
10.) What do you think about my blog ? 🙂
I love it. You have so many reviews and have interviewed so many authors! It is such a huge help to writers when people spread the word about their work. I’m so honored to have Counting Backwards read in Romania!
11.) Do you have a message for my blog`s followers?
If you are interested in being a writer, you should practice, practice, practice all the time and work on finding your own unique voice. Don’t let others get in your way and above all else, don’t give up!
